Insecure Father Tells Son That Men Shouldn’t Feel Emotion While He’s Crying

Ah, Gender norms. How do we unravel these extremely useless and harmful rules that we impose on each other for no good reason? You'd think that we have made tons of progress considering you see more and more women in CEO positions and more men picking up slack in the household, but we're obviously not there yet. It's really difficult for parents to try to hold themselves back from imposing such expectations on their children, but we do our best don't we? There are more gender nonconforming children's books out there and more main characters in films that break common misconceptions about girls and boys. But if you are a man and you believe that men cannot feel any emotion and you tell your child that, you are definitely not helping to get rid of such rigid norms. This dad clearly has some work to do on himself as he refuses to comfort his son after he doesn't do well at a swim meet, And his wife called him out on it. Who do you think is in the wrong here?
